The story of

The boat formerly known as The Port City Princess was recently purchased by Sand Products Corporation to keep the historic cruise ship in Muskegon. It was renamed and given a little face-lift to start off. Now known as the “Aquastar”, she stands out with a rich blue color scheme inspired by the SS AQUARAMA, the largest passenger ferry ever on the Great Lakes, which was also owned by Sand Products.

There are more renovations in the works, with the main goal being to pay homage to Muskegon’s rich maritime history back to the 1930s. Taking inspiration from the  SS AQUARAMA, SS MILWAUKEE CLIPPER, SS ILLINOIS, SS VIRGINIA,
and SS MISSOURI, the ship will bring a sense of nostalgia to the older generation and a historical intrigue to the younger demographic that Muskegon is tailoring itself to.
